“ From the moment we walked in the door we felt welcomed and cared for at O ​​Palco. The friendly, professional and knowledgeable front desk staff sets the stage for a most enjoyable dining experience. We decided on the 7-scene menu with wine accompaniment and were happy about every change of scene. Using locally sourced ingredients, the meal was delicately balanced and a delight. The menu was a fine blend of tastes and aromas from across the spectrum. The wine pairings were precise and matched the flavors and profile of the dishes well. The relaxed, professional atmosphere in the dining room was fun and filled with happy guests – visitors and locals alike. I can highly recommend this wonderful chef and his team. We were so impressed we returned the next night to sample the vegetarian offerings of O Palco - again our expectations were exceeded and we enjoyed a refined, flavoursome and well-balanced meal. ”

“ Always, a wonderful dining experience. One of our favorite restaurants in Portugal. We did the 10-course menu with wine pairing and every course was spectacular. Only a few tables, so booking in advance is important. Favorite Courses: - Cod - Mushrooms - Sweet Rice - Roses ”

“ A real treat for us to be able to eat both a vegetarian and a vegan tasting menu of such quality and attention to detail, unique & intense flavours, presentation, and care to the overall customer experience, from the exceptionally warm and friendly welcome from Ana and her team, to the time given to the explanation of every dish, not to mention the delicious & perfectly paired wines. It was important for us, from the sustainability perspective, to know that everything (bar the coffee beans, obviously!) is grown or sourced within a small radius of Coimbra. It was also a very nice touch to meet head chef Marco near the end of our meal. I would recommend opting for the eight (rather than five) course menu if you can, as the best dishes, for us, were among the starter and main “scenes”. Minor reservation: the vegetarian dessert courses were a significant step up from the fresh fruit vegan plate, although we understand this is being addressed with the recent addition to the team of a new pastry chef. All in all, a special and memorable evening. Highly recommended. ”

“ The meal started with me requesting to pick the seven courses. The waitress said, "No, you have to trust us." This made me nervous, but I am glad we did! The dinner was like little Christmas presents, each a unique surprise. We took a tour of wines and the history of Coimbra through the flood. Our waiter was a guide, and we enjoyed the tour. Thanks for an amazing meal and experience. It was a magical night!! ”

“ Everything about O Palco was phenomenal. To start, the service from Anna, who leads the front of house, was top notch. They took care of every small detail, and the table was manicured perfectly with no fork out of place and not a crumb in sight! We felt such at home with her and wish we were staying another night to come back. Next, the FOOD! Not only was it incredibly beautiful it was delicious. They have a really interesting concept where all of their food is locally grown or transformed (with I think the sole exception being the coffee beans!). It was amazing to taste the different flavors from the local region. Our favorites included a sucking pig inspired butter, an incredibly delicate appetizer that melts in your mouth, and an incredible smoked eel rice. It even comes with a local hot sauce if you want an extra kick! The desserts were all themed whether year-round (rose) or seasonal (citrus). Overall it was FANTASTIC!! I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant and will absolutely recommend it to anyone that visits Coimbra. ”

“ This place deserves a star. I traveled across the world and I never had the honor of eating at a place like this one. They made us discover flavours we never tasted and yet felt so familiar. Everything was perfect. The homemade kombucha, the mignardises, the amazing dishes, the excellent service and wonderful myths of Coimbra, I dare to say that this restaurant is not only the best in town, but also one of the best in Europe. “ We opted to go for the seven course option with matching wines. In order to experience the full menu, my wife ordered the vegetarian menu while I went for the non-veg. Both were delicious. One of the best meals we’ve ever had. Great locally sourced ingredients, wonderful staff and a lovely room made this a memorable experience. And compared to similar quality restaurants in other countries, an absolute bargain for this quality. ”

“ This is a very special restaurant. The service is outstanding- such lovely people who clearly care passionately about what they do. We were made to feel so welcome. The way they tell the story of the region and the food while introducing their dishes is so authentic and adds tremendously to the overall experience. The food - is excellent- really excellent. It's rooted in the region so has elements of dishes you might come across in the area but the cleverness of the cooking elevates to a very high level. The wine pairing was superb too - recommended. A great meal. Will live long in the memory! ”
